switching account freeze up

This seems to be happenening too much for my liking.Whenever I switch
accounts,either by logging off or just switching user account, the computer
loads fine until i access a programme, then everything freezes. The task
manager will let me shut it down ok but gives a message "the programme is
waiting for an action from you" (or something to that effect) apart from the
task manager no other buttons/commands have any effect on what is displayed
on screen.This is ongoing until i shut down the p.c. and log on from scratch,
then all is fine until i need to switch again.

Sorry, I have the same issue - upon log off, mouse & keyboard freezes on
user selection page. Nothing I do shows any acitivity. I have to manually
shut down (7 second hold of the on/off switch.) Then I usually end up with
corrupted nVidia drivers which have to be reset. So my wife and I have to
"restart" the computer rather than log-off.

I have searched and can find no solutions either.
