Switching a POP account to IMAP

B

Brian Glasser

Hi,

I currently use Outlook 2003 and want to switch a POP account to IMAP.

I currently have an inbox in my personal folders that receives mail from
a POP account. I added an account that is IMAP and have connected to it,
however, it lists my new IMAP inbox as another separate tree of folders.

I want to change the inbox under my personal folders to be the new IMAP
inbox and remove the separate tree of folders I have now.

Thanks,
Brian

That's not possible. What you're seeing is normal behavior. An IMAP account's folders cannot be the sole folders in your OUtlook mail profile, because IMAP accounts don't support special Outlook items like contacts and appointments.

You can't. IMAP servers need their own message stores and Outlook needs at
least one set of Personal Folders for its special folders
