How do i make my IMAP folders default. POP folder no longer used

I have recently changed my Gmail account from POP to IMAP (in OFFICE 07),
however the inbox associated with my POP account remains the default inbox.
However, using IMAP, my mail now appears in a tree of folders below the tree
which contains my original inbox etc (ie all the folders that make up the
office.pst file). Please advise how i can configure Outlook to recognise my
IMAP account as the default inbox. I have no other email account configured
in outlook. Any help will be most appreciated.
