Swapping SCSI controllers under XP

Is there a way to replace a SCSI controller card with one that is a
different model without reinstalling XP? I currently have an Adaptec 19160
controller card and attempted to replace it with an Adaptec 2100S RAID
controller card but have been unable to boot XP successfully. It either
loops through the reboot process or gets as far as the screen menu that
comes up when windows has been shut done abnormally (so I know it's reading
off one of the drives). For what it's worth, Adaptec says XP has the drivers
necessary for the 2100S. Is there some trick to getting the existing XP
install to boot normally once the 2100S card is installed? TIA...

There is a procedure outlined here, and to be honest with you, it is simpler
than I expected. What I don't understand, is why there is no mention of
boot.ini .

Thanks for the link. I'll give that a try. However, the guide says it's not
intended for controllers that Windows has built-in drivers for. According to
Adaptec, XP has the drivers for the 2100S...
