Swap Hard Drives

D

Dave

I currently have 2 hardrives C: and D:
My C: contains all my program files as well as my
operating system (XP) and D: contains music etc.

I want to get a new C: and replace the current one. My
question is, how do I transfer everything from my old C:
to my new C: and just install the new one and boot up
straight away?

Please help,
Regards, Dave

Its not that simple.First, format the new drive, have it set as
slave on the IDE chain.Run the mntce utilitys for C:,when thru,
go to run,type:XCOPY C:\*.* E:\ /c/h/e/k/r
In the DOS window agree to all,E: being the slave drive, however
any letter will work. When thru, shutdown, place slave as master,
change the jumper pins, youre thru.If you want more info, open cmd,
type:XCOPY /?

If you didn't understand the instructions then you have no business trying
to do the swap.
