swap from slave to master (Win2k Server)

currently Win2k Server was installed/ boot on a primary
slave harddrive,

where primary master is empty not connected to any drive,

so i want to move/ set primary slave harddrive become
primary master, will this cause any serious problem?

or do i need to edit the boot.ini or set any other setting
before doing this?

the Win2k Server is the only OS on this computer (not dual
boot), Win2k Server already installed with Active Directory

thanks

You probably have a setting in BIOS, "boot order" or similar, that is set
to boot your computer from your primary slave. It might be set to boot from
disk D instead of disk C (or similar, depending on BIOS). Normally, the
computer wouldn't boot without a primary master.

As long as you change this BIOS setting, and at the same time move your
hard disk to primary master, Win2000 should not be affected. Don't forget
to check jumper settings on your hard disk.

Best regards

i have change the HD to master (jumper/bios all set),
everything is OK now, but device manager saying that
current transfer mode for "device 0" is "not applicaple"
and current transfer mode for "device 1" is "ultra DMA
mode" under "primary IDE channel"

is that mean device still connected as primary slave and
primary master still empty?
but when running BIOS and Intel Application Accelerator,
both tell the correct configuration, this is bit weird,

but anyway the server(SP4) now is problem free, thanks
