I don't know what happened. I upgraded one of my pc's with a new
motherboard, memory and powersupply and dvd dual layer burner.
Had old 8 gig harddrive as primary master and a 30 gig as primary slave
and a 300 gig as sata1. Loaded windows up on the first two drives worked
fine. Loaded Linux up on the Sata and it worked fine with dual booting.
did all the upgrades on both OS's. everything was booting and running
fine. A couple day later my Primary master and slave was no longer
recognized by the bios. could only boot linux. Then an hour later the
sata no longer recognized by the bios. I assumed the motherboard shit
the bed.
I put the old motherboard back but it too don't recognize the primary
master nor slave in any configuration. It don't have an sata port so I
can't check that.
How could I blow 3 harddrives? It was all together and running. I don't
get it.

I measured it and it's ok. I put the new motherboard back and booted
the dvd with a live cd and it booted just peachy. I shut it down,
plugged in the sata drive into sata1, removed the cd and the god damn
thing booted up the sata just fine. It's working again. I just haven't
tried the eide drives yet, maybe i'll not use them again. I still don't
get it.

You might try changing the cables to see if any of them will work with
new cables.
