Doesn't Win XP create a swap file like previous versions did? I haven't
been able to locate it or the place in the menu structure that sets it size
and location.

Yes, but it's called a page file.

I haven't been able to locate it

It's in the root folder of C:. If you don't see it, it's because
it's a hidden file, and you haven't changed from the default not
to show hidden files.

Got to My Computer, and click Tools | Folder Options. On the view
tab, check the radio button "Show hidden files and folders."

Right Click on My Computer and choose Properties. Go to the
Advanced tab and, under Performance, click Settings. Click the
Advanced tab, and down at the bottom, click Change.

Yes it does, called pagefile.sys. It's a hidden file so you won't see
it unless show hidden files is selected. Open my computer or an
explorere window, Tools | Folder Options | View | Show hidden files and
directories.

It can be set by right clicking on My Computer | Properties | Advanced |
Performance Settings | Advanced | Virtual Memory

I assume you are looking for virtual memory settings.
my computer properties-advanced-performance (settings)-advanced-virtual
memory.

It is now called the Page File and is by default C:\pagefile.sys

You can adjust settings at Control Panel - System - Advanced -
Performance Settings - Advanced - Virtual Memory and click Change. Be
sure to click set after adjusting any drive.
