I have my swap file located on my D drive for more speed. I have 512 Mb
of Physical memory, how big should the swap file on D be? Please give me
a minimum and maximum since D drive is used just foe swap file.

Let the system decide the size of the pagefile. So, the maximum and minimum
sizes should be whatever the system needs.

How big's your drive?
Ever heard of Google?
You want more speed? Buy more RAM.
Ask yourself what the lowest amount is possible then ask yourself what the
largest amount possible. That's the size of your drive.

I would think 512 min and 1 gig max would be plenty.

Can monitor page file usage/size in Task Manager.

The recommended size of the pagefile is 1.5 times the size of the system RAM
or, in your case, 768MB.

It doesn't matter. It's too small when programs won't open (generally without any error message as there's not enough free memory to show one). As the only file on the drive why would you set a minimum? Why do you think having the swap on D is faster? Assuming it's a seperate and fastest drive (the only reason to move it) then Windows should also be there (which will make a difference you can tell).

Having the page file on a seperate drive from Windows actually makes data
transfer to and from the page file faster. Why? Because this allows two
points of data (Windows and the page file) to be retrieved simultaneously. A
simultaneous read/write action is not possible if you have Windows and the
page file on the same hard disk.

Only if the file is on the first partition of the subsequent drive will it
be faster.

Learn to post properly, you twat.

Who in their right minds would place an extended partition on a hard drive
that's used for storage? It's not necessary. Perhaps common sense eludes
you.

Reread what he posted, you impotent retard, and you may see where you are
misleading yourself. Show where he referenced EP.

Seems you know more about that that you're letting on. Did you do as Rob
said and reread the post you completely misunderstood?

You're not too bright yourself, eh.

Is that your chat up line when 'trying' to make friends? Or something to
cover up your embarrassment at being so obtuse.

Increasing RAM is totally out of the question, the computer users RAMBUS
which is very expensive. my drive for the SWAP file is 40GB My main
drive is 120GB.

Yeah, so I made a mistake.

And unchecked, you would have gone on to convince some poor **** they were
wrong and you were right, all in the name of you protecting your pride.

Yet your nonchalant reply of "Yeah, so I made a mistake." is meaningless,
because, firstly it's not directed to the person you criticized, and
secondly, you say it in such a tone that shows you don't mean it.

What you need to do, you pillock, is slow down, think! and give you arse a
****ing chance.

In the meantime, squirm, you arrogant ****stick.
