Svchost

Hello,

I have a computer that had a bad case of virus infection.
Norton did not help, had to do Smithfraud.
Then I started to get the svchost error on startup.
I did not know what else to do so I did a repair install of windows, then
downloaded all the critical updates and now it's doing it again.

Please help. I ran out of ideas.

Do not install any Norton-/Symantec software.

Why don't you retrieve a clean system backup. In case that you failed
to create such backup you may want to consult
"Cleaning a Compromised System"

At this point you should back up your data and do a clean install of
Windows. I'm sorry that isn't what you want to hear, but it is the only
way to get an uncompromised and working system at this point.

Because of the previous virus infection I was told to disable system restore
so I don't have a clean backup to go back to.

I will read the article, thank you very much.

Well, the System Restore tool is somewhat limited and does not replace
any system backups. In addition, that tool does not clean a compromised
system.
I will read the article, thank you very much.

You're certainly welcome.

Does the number mean anything to help?

0x7c9105f8 at 0x00000010

You can use the keywords "0x7c9105f8 svchost" for a Google search, how-
ever, that means wasting your time with patchwork - the quoted article
below tells you why this is the case. Good luck.

Would like to hear some more about it even I cant tell you what to do.
I´m troubled by this 'svchost' too. Norton Internet Security on my
machine blocks it the all time. I dont know if it´s a virus. Could
someone tell?.
Thank you
