I am having problems starting up windows. Frequently my
system slowsdown at startup and explorer freezes. I check
the task manager and find that the cpu is being used up at
100%. By trial and error, i found that the process called
svchost.exe is what is eating up the process. after
terminating the process, the system seems to operate
normally, however whithout any connectivity to the
internet and lan. any ideas?

The advice to run virus protection program is good. You

have one of the symptoms of MSBlaster but might also be an
overdose of spyware. Ad-aware and Spybot are available on
the wet (free). Also check
