svchost help

I use my computer to surf the net and for general uses it
will often freeze. So i open my task manager and usually
find 4 or more svchost.exe running and 1 of these is
using all of the CPU processing power. I then end the
svchost.exe and then the computer will return to its
current action. why does the computer do this?, and how
do i get it to stop doing this?

It is normal for SVCHOST to be running several times, it is not normal
that one instance is using so much CPU time. I'd suspect spyware or a
possible virus or worm. Update your antivirus and scan the system.

Get a copy of Spybot Search and Destroy and/or AdAware (do a web search
- they're both freeware and I use both as each seems to find things the
other misses) update them and check for problems.
