Svchost.exe

Hi everyone;

I get the same error message every time I get on line as well .
<--------------------------->
Svchost.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error
log is being generated.
<---------------------------->

After the message I can't use any of the links on any websites. I can't
copy and paste in any programs and on my MS Word and MS Outlook, I lose my
office assistant and get the message " do you want to reinstall the office
assistant"

I am a web designer and can't afford to reboot my machine every time I get
the message; it is time consuming and it is really slowing me down.

any body has any solution?

I would appreciate any help.

I have the same proble....I've ran the removal tool from Symantec - edited the registry according to MS KB - formatted and reinstalled via CD, but still have the problem......it's a Dell Optiplex GX 110 I was given by the company I worked for - the system had been flattened before I received it....I installed Win 2k Pro - started in with the SP download/upgrades, and that's when I got the svchost message. I've tried everything I know to try - I thought about debugging.fdisk, format, then reinstall, but it won't let me...says the drive is locked...it won't let me unlock it either.....I've rebooted to SafeMode Dos Prompt and tried to just run a basic format c: command, but it won't let me do that either..... any suggestions would be appreciated

Usually down to a virus. If a new install and you connect without installing a firewall or current AV app first, you will probably be infected immediately
