svchost.exe

While using a dial-up service I get an error message related to
svchost.exe. From there on the DUN icon on the tray doesn´t work, the
save as option in Internet Explorer doesn´t work (though it works in
Netscape), and I cannot copy anything to the clipboard. What is this?.
I have installed my Windows 2000 in a just formatted partition.
Can anybody help?
Thanks

Hi!

It seems that you have caught the W32.Blaster Worm via
Internet. I removed it with Symantec tool and updated to
SP4 and the DCOM/RPC-Patch from MS. I also installed a
firewall (Kerio). But this seems to work not always as it
should because after this update my PC crashes every time
I want to open an email with Pegasus Mail. I haven't
solved this problem yet. It seems that the worm has
destroyed some other files (dll) which are necessary for
Pegasus Mail to work correctly.

Thanks. I also installed Kerio, it works well for me. I have been able
to detect the possible attack to port 135. I also had some problems
with Pegasus. But finally my Windows 2000 OS didn´t boot, was
impossible to repair, and I had to reinstall.
