Microsoft office powerpoint viewer 2007

Clara Cagigal

Hello, I have the microsoft office powerpoint viewer 2007 (spanish) to see
microsoft presentations. When i try to open the program it doesn´t work, it
doesn´t open, nor clicking in a microsoft power point presentation or trying
to open by double click on the icon (dont boot the initial window¿?). I also
have the microsoft office word viewer and it works perfectly well. I have re
installed the power point viewer but the problem still is. Could anybody
help?.
Thanks in advance, regards

Clara,

You don't have *any* Office version installed?

Look for a folder named 3082 in C:\Archivos de programa\Microsoft
Office\Office12

Right-click the folder to rename it from 3082 to 1033 (or make a copy of the
folder and rename the copied folder to 1033)

Double-click PPTVIEW.EXE to open the Viewer after renaming the folder to
check if it is working now...

Ja jajaja ...

Very funny indeed !

I had the exact same problem and I was wondering ... no... this cannot be...
but nevertheless I tried it and it works ( No cycling needed) !!

How can this be?... I suppose it has to be with the fact that I installed
English version of viewer first but I uninstalled it and later installed the
Spanish version... so somehow it seems that the spanish version was flawed by
the previous english installation...

Blame microsoft for this... OTOH microsoft forums rocks big time 'cause the
first attemp to solve this problem lead to this thread and this was in fact
the correct solution... so I supposed it is a tie >;)

OTOH microsoft forums rocks big time

;-)

That's nice...

OTOH... problem surely is *similar* but not *exactly* the same as Clara's...
(but the solution is, more or less, the same)

I've asked Clara: > You don't have *any* Office version installed?

Now... I ask you a, probably, better "double question"... You don't have
*any* Office version installed? or Do you have an English version of
Microsoft Windows installed and are installing the Spanish version of
PowerPoint Viewer 2007?

Then... this MSKB surely applies (also)...

Hi Enric,

Probably mine was not the exact same problem than mine, but when I read
Clara´s problem (the first post of this thread) it was, word by word, the
exact problem I had: I had power point, excel and word viewers installed and
excel and word viewers worked as spected but power point don't.

The solution you post, although I couldn't believe it, it made sense to me
(1033 and 3082 refers to localized version of files), 'cause I installed
english version of power point first... but as I am a spanish speaker I
prefer the spanish version so I unistalled english version downloaded spanish
version an installed it... but then it didn't work...

Maybe that's the case for the problem I had, but as soon as I renamed 3082
to 1033 it worked perfectly.

Finally I have to say that I use spanish version of XP (SP3) and don't have
any full-office products installed, only viewers, 'cause I use *other* office
solution.

jeansagi,

A todo esto, y *lo primero*... "as you are a Spanish speaker" and "I am a
Spanish speaker"...

Muchísimas gracias... por tomarte el tiempo y las molestias en/de
contestarme...

There is the problem documented in the KB (Viewer of non-English version
installed on an English Windows version) OK. There is a KB and it is not
good (generally speaking) and it is not supported (by MS) to mix languages.

IMHO, there is *another problem*, not documented at the KB that makes
non-English versions of 2007 Viewer (at least French and Spanish) absolutely
useless when there is not an Office version installed on the computer. I
wrote about this on April 2008, I'll have *to insist* on it...

After I found that Ppvwintl.dll was the problem I did found... That renaming
the folder from 3082 (Spanish) or (1036) French, to 1033 (English) makes it
work.
And that moving Ppvwintl.dll outside the 3082 (or 1036) folder and putting
the Ppvwintl.dll besides PPTVIEW.EXE makes it work also.

Thank you very much for *confirming* that you don't have any "MS Office"
version installed...

Indeed it was my fault to install english version of viewers on my spanish

office installed.

I agree you have to insist on this.
