Just recently my firewall is coming up with a warning
about svchost.exe The file is under Windows/System32.
I also have a svchostold.exe file as well.

The firewall is saying it's trying to go to
207.46.130.100 which is an invalid website addy. It also
lists the name time.windows.com

I'm just wondering if this is a valid file that necessary
for the operation of Windows XP Home edition or is it
part of a virus. I did run my recently updated McAfee
Virus Scan and it came up clean.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The behaviour you describe is normal.

Svchost is a legitimate component, which will normally be allowed access
to the Net, but you may well have had it replaced by a malicious
invader. ChecK: The proper one, which should be in System32, will show
if you r-click and take Properties that the size is 12800 bytes, that
the Modification date is 23 August 2001 and on the Version page that it
is Version 5.1.2600.0 of 'Generic Host Process for Win32 Services' and
comes from Microsoft Corporation
