svchost.exe error

I had to repair my windows xp and have been in the process of reinstalling
windows xp updates. My problem did not begin until I reinstalled service
pack 2 when I rebooted after it had finished I started getting this error
message:
The instruction at "0x00b12ae1 or l(not sure which) referenced memory at
"0x00000000". After the reboot, I allowed my automatic updates to run and
install 55 updates(mainly security issues). When I rebooted after that I
started getting the generic host error.
I am currently installing the windows xp service pack 3 onto my laptop(Hp
Pavilion zv5000(it doesn't have the amd harddrive it has the intel celeron)).
So if service pack 3 doesn't resolve the svchost.exe and the gerneric host
error where should I go from there?

Here are some more errors from windows xp

I am getting an error involving the Microsoft.net Framework

I also got a svchost.exe error right at the windows splash screen before you
get to the login screen.
I also got this svchost.exe after I logged in

The instruction at 0x00cd2ae1 referenced memory 0x00000000. The memory
could not be written.

Then I received another message
Data execution prevention. To help protect your computer windows has closed
this program Generic Host Process for Win32 services.

I am thinking the svchost and Generic Host process are somehow tied together
in the error.

When I am restarting the computer right as it is shutting down I get another
svchost error

Needless to say I installed the Windows XP Service Pack 3 today but the
svchost error was already showing up when I logged in. Now it is showing up
more. Any ideas on where to start resolving this issue.

It was not sensible to install the SP3 update when you had an existing
error!

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in the
System and Application logs in Event Viewer for the last boot. No
Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate which also appear in
a previous boot.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

svchost.exe error

Hi Tom,

I too am receiving the same error messages as you. I also installed the HP
all in one printer. When I first tried to install my printer I lost my router
connection and messed up my entire configuration and had to hire a tech to
come out and reload my internet connection, Mcafee and the printer, not to
mention get rid of the initial errors. Now whenever I start up my lap top I
receive the errors (in the same order) as you. But the 0x00 numbers at the
beginning are different than yours. I have no idea where to go from here with
this issue. Please let me know if you figre it out.

Thanks
Cathy
