Doug Martin

The following processing error keeps occurring while I am
online.

Program error

svchost.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error
log is being created.

svchost.exe = Generic Host Process for Win32 Services

I checked the Properties sheet for this error in the
Systems Log in Event Viewer and it showed the following:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7031
Date: 1/21/2004
Time: 9:14:36 AM
User: N/A
Computer: WIN2000PRO
Description:
The Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated
unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following
corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No
action.

When I check the Properties sheet for this error in the
Applications Log, it said:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: DrWatson
Event Category: None
Event ID: 4097
Date: 1/21/2004
Time: 9:14:34 AM
User: N/A
Computer: WIN2000PRO
Description:
The application, svchost.exe, generated an application
error. The error occurred on 01/21/2004 @ 09:14:34.546 The
exception generated was c0000005 at address E07F3A68
(<nosymbols>)

The error occurs randomly, but usually after I've clicked
on several links on the same web page.

Once this error has occurred, I can't log off from the
Internet and must shut down and restart my system.

Can anyone explain why I am getting this error message?
My Celeron 2.4Ghz system is brand new and I am running an
OEM copy of Win2000Pro on it.
