Hello,
There is a computer at work (small company where I happen
to be the computer "guru" -- hah!), that has been
exhibiting the following behavior.
Whenever this computer connects to the Internet, via a
dialup line, it will inevitably generate an error message
saying that "Svchost.exe has generated errors" and the
program will be closing. This boots the computer off the
Internet and also mildly corrupts things like the Control
Panel, which shows up on the screen as scrambled and
unworkable. Rebooting solves the problem, but of course
next time you access the Internet the cycle repeats.
We discovered several viruses on this computer about a
month ago and thought that they were probably the cause of
the errors. After sending the computer out to the shop
that we have had working on them, the tech there said he
couldn't get rid of all the viruses and so he backed up
the data and reinstalled the OS (Win2K Pro) from scratch--
reformatted hard drive, etc.
To my surprise and annoyance this did NOT solve the
problem. Same thing is occurring. I've Googled around
and haven't come up with anything definitive on this error
message. Checked MS KB with no real luck. I'm willing
to start over from scratch again, but since that didn't
work last time, I'm thinking I'd better get some more and
better information.
Hope some people here can help.
Thanks in advance.
