svchost.exe bug

Hi,
Am a home user running Win 2000 Pro on a AMD 750Dev with
750meg RAM.
At random, the system freezes-up (have to hit the Reset
button). Happens quite often.
Problem seems to be in the file: SVCHOST.EXE
Sometimes tracked to an RPC CALL problem
Anyone have a Hotfix for this or any ideas?
Microsoft is no help unless you pay dearly!
(Beginning to wonder about Linux.)

hi,

seems to be THE very common problem with the blaster worm.
check this out: http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.mspx

walk throug all the steps and your system should be running without any
problems
in future (until someone exploits a new security leak for bad intentions)

install all sp(service packs) for your windows and do a windows update.
