svchost at 99% and I could use some help

I guess I posted to the wrong thread?

I installed Windows defender and was working normally I then ran a scan it
removed software from couponage and then shut down and restarted. Now I have
svchost running at 99% and my internet connection will not renew the IP
address (i'm writing from my other commputer since I can't conect to get
updates) MSASCui is at 0 and other prosesses will run at up to 30% but
normally in the single digits . I tried unistalling and reinstalling like the
thread says but no luck. System mechanic professional, Ad aware, and Nornot
antivirus can not find any viruses or anything which took forever. Any more
recomendations? Any way to get updates on floppy?

There is a svchost prefetch file that is dated the day that it stopped
working
You're off topic for this forum, which is dedicated to Windows Live OneCare. You >may want to try the Defender newsgroups here:

Hello

Try bringing up your failing system in safe mode and do a system restore to
the point before you removed couponage and got the SVC host excessive CPU
utilization problem. Once your system is working again, make sure you have
the latest version of Windows Defender installed V 1.1.1593.0
Next do a manual full scan and see what WD doesn't like. Post that
information under this thread. Tell WD to Ignore (don't fix anything).

As to your internet problem, try this:

Open the start menu, and click on Run. In the Run box, type

ipconfig /renew

and then click on OK. If you get error messages, let me know. (Are you
running XP SP2?)

I can't claim certainty, but this is what I would try first for this
symptom.

Note that you will need to call (or email) Microsoft PSS for this. Simply
state that you are looking for this hotfix and don't discuss other issues on
the call, and there won't be any charge--call the number for paid support in
your area.

I also experience this problem and Windows Update is not scheduled to run at
the time.
I noticed this more after uninstalling windows desktop search 3.0. Maybe it
doesn't clean up after itself?
