Does anyone know if the newer version of SUS is able to deploy service
packs? I think before, SUS was only able to deploy windows critical updates
only. Can someone confirm this for me.

Its not the newer version, MS has just enabled the download of W2K and XP
services packs. Head over to the microsoft.public.softwareupdatesvcs
newsgroup - look for a post titled FAQ about service pack installs from Don
Cottam (one of the MS SUS team)
