SUS - Clients not getting approved updates!

I've set up SUS on one of our W2K3 servers on our 2K domain. I can download
updates and approve them OK, I've set the clients to point to http://server
in AD GP but none of the updates are being installed.

All clients are Win2K SP4.

Any help would be appreciated.

did you approve the updates/hotfixes in SUS ?
BTW, could clients contact with SUS Server (ping) ?

Hi Kame,

Yes to both. Is there anyway to force the clients to check the server?

You can check the log on one of the clients to make sure it is actually trying to contact the SUS server, there should be a "windows update.log" on each

c:\windows\windows update.lo

This will show when and what it has been connecting to for its updates, it should show your SUS server

Make sure the 'automatic updates' service is not disabled on the clients, if this isnt running the client wont contact the SUS server

Check there is a 'WindowsUpdate' folder in HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows on the clients, this contains all the settings from the GPO. If the client does not have the GPO applied, they will not have this folder

Also what updates are you deploying, are they already installed on the clients in the first place

All the registry is there. I'm trying SP4 on a SP3 PC.

Should the client install any new approved updates upon reboot? The start
install is set to 1 minute after startup.
