Hi,
My computer recently always pops up a dialog box. It shows "Surf
Canyon AutoUpdate": Fast Search Version 3.3.5 is available. ou are
using version 3.3.4. Download the update?

I am not sure it is harmful or not. And I do not know how to remove
it. I cannot find it in Control panel.

Could you help me? Thanks.

It's a browser extension. You must have accidentally installed it -
maybe it came bundled with some other product. You should always
carefully read all dialog boxes presented to you whenever you install
something, to make sure something you don't want or need isn't foisted
on you.

If you don't use it or want it or need it, you should uninstall it.
Here's how:

It's not harmful at all. If you have Surf Canyon installed and
would like for it to perform correctly, we recommend accepting the
automatic updates.

If at any time you would like to remove the software, we provide
simple instructions at www.surfcanyon.com/faq.jsp#q4.

Please contact us using www.surfcanyon.com/contact.jsp should you
have any further questions.

How did he get it in the first place? Is Surf Canyon "foistware", where
you bundle it in with other companies products in the hopes that
someone will accidentally install it without realizing what they're
getting?

WTF are you talking about?? Ever hear of quoting?? You don't even
post who the hell you're posting to!!

He chose to install it and no.

OK, thanks for clarifying. The original poster seems to not recognize
Surf Canyon or have any idea how it got on his computer. Maybe someone
he knows installed it without his knowledge.
