Suggestion for Movie Cataloguer/Database

Hi,

Does anyone know of a good freeware movie cataloguer/database, that
can accept movie files (.avi's, .mpg's etc) from your hard drive? I
have no interest in a program that only does CD's/DVD's (like Ant
Movie Catalog). MovieTrack is too buggy on my PC and has a number of
features that really irritate me, but it is so far the only program I
have found that will accept files from your hard drive (but with imdb
support, it is still mainly geared towards CD's/DVD's). A program with
no imdb support built in would also be a plus for me.

What do you mean from hard drive? Ant Movie Catalog can get info from files
no matter where they are located.

Hi Fran,

Sorry, should have proofread my post before clicking the send button
;-) I meant adding a file from the hard drive and then being able to
play it from within the movie database. Yes, you can add files from
your hard drive to Ant, but you cannot play them. There was another
one I tried called MovieCollection (from the author of HijackThis) -
it was simple layout, had the features I wanted etc, the only problem
was that you cannot play movies from within the program. I emailed the
author to ask him about whether he had plans to add a play feature,
but he said that he didn't. So, my search continues. It's amazing
really - you can find a freeware program for nearly any weird and
wonderful task you want to do, but a common task (like a movie
database), you can search for months (like I have been), and not find
a damn thing :-(
