$600 thats about £300 quid isn't it..

For that budget your probably looking at something like a Toshiba or an Acer laptop, maybe celeron based with a gig of ram and Windows XP

You would be better off saving a little more cash and waiting to buy a better spec machine..

$600 is £403.00 at the moment.

But laptops are cheaper in the States so $600 will buy the equivalent of a £500.00 machine in the UK at least.

Toshiba definitely.

Not being familiar with suppliers in the USA - I only know of New Egg - I can't really recommend one.

I have had experience with a Acer laptop my overall experience was great, lasted me 3years or so, good for gaming and general use. Good build quality.

well, both of them don't have ps/2 mouse connectors..
can a ps/2 mouse port be installed after purchasing..??

No it can't.

Do people still use PS2 mice?

If the criteria for your machine includes a PS2 mouse port it does rather cut down your choice of machines available.

The main questions you need to answer before purchasing your laptop are:

• What size screen would you like?
• What tasks will you be performing on your laptop? (Work? Games? Watching films? Using the Internet?)
• Will you need to carry your laptop around with you?
• How many hours battery life do you need?
• How much hard drive space do you want?
• Do you need an optical drive? (DVD-ROM, DVD-CD/RW or DVD-RW drive?)

This should help narrow down your options on what laptop would best suit your needs. This buyers guide might provide some advice on what companies and specifications to consider Edited - fbs

Alright, they're taking the mick now.

Banned the pair of them.

Even big companies are being hit by the recession it seems.

Now then, major manufacturer of peripherals - please don't spam again.
