Suddenly no USB Support

Came in this morning and my PC running XP Pro no longer has any USB support.
I went into the hardware manager and deleted the USB devices and rebooted
the PC and it "Found new hardware" but none of the USB ports are working. I
also tried to update the drivers doing a right click in Device Manager.
IDEAS?

What have you done recently to the computer? Absent any information, I'd
have to suggest 1) checking all the cabling and 2) reinstalling the
motherboard/chipset drivers.

As far as I know I haven't changed anything. When I left my office late last
night everything was working fine. I came back this morning and it wasn't.
I'm 100% sure know one was using my PC during that time.

Any idea how I can get the make and model of my motherboard/chipset without
opening the case?

Belarc Advisor is a good hardware/software inventory tool.

I'd be sure to enter BIOS setup and verify under the peripherals
category that the USB controllers are enabled.

However, you said that devices were re-enumerated so it's likely
they've been misidentified or placed in the "Other" category.

Were any updates applied last night through windows update?

Any idea how to check that?

I also noticed that with a USB thumb drive plugged into the USB port it does
not pull any power so there is no power at the USB port.

Could be a hardware failure. To check for updates go to the windows update
site, do a custom scan then click on the history link on the left side. ( I
don't recollect exactly what it's called).
