Suddenly links in Word and in batch file do not open in Firefox

I now see this when the browser attempts to open the page---some part
of the OS seems to have added this part
[FirefoxHTML%5CShell%5COpen%5CCommand], and firefox doesn't know what
to make of it.

since i have assembled several long lists to open in this manner, I'd
like to be able to fix this.

This may have been caused by the installation of FF 2.0 or even
Internet Explorer 7?
