Incorrect or generic Windows icon

Hi

I have read the articles here in my attempts to fix the .htm & .html
file extension corruptions that is incorrectly displaying the "old"
white/black explorer icons..

Some icons display the Firefox icon & the firefoxhtml description and
others have the text firefoxhtml descriptions with no icon files.. Some
even have internet explorer as the default icon..

I have tried htmiconfix several times and restarted my browser as well
- but still it is not fixed..

I have used fileextinfo and have the below .htm & .html files
available..

Is there a way to fix this permanently??

Thanks Ramesh for responding..

I have downloaded the latest version and I run as an administrator on
my Win2K PC - that is definately not the problem..

I have compiled a document with screenshots detailing the problem - You
will notice I have file extensions that are fixed for to open in
Firefox (my default), but also includes IE icons as well as those icons
without any pictures (the ones that are missing the icon files)

Is there any way i can send this to you to show you what i mean?

Open Regedit.exe and navigate to

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxHTML\ShellEx\IconHandler]

Export the key, and then delete it.

I have downloaded the latest version and I run as an administrator on
my Win2K PC - that is definately not the problem..

I have compiled a document with screenshots detailing the problem - You
will notice I have file extensions that are fixed for to open in
Firefox (my default), but also includes IE icons as well as those icons
without any pictures (the ones that are missing the icon files)

Is there any way i can send this to you to show you what i mean?

Thanks... Boy this is frustrating - I backed up my registry and deleted
the key..

Still no change.. It appears that MS Office 2003 is the cause of this
problem...

Guess I have to remove office, or totally reformat/reload my OS..

Unless you have any other ideas????

I have read the articles here in my attempts to fix the .htm & .html
file extension corruptions that is incorrectly displaying the "old"
white/black explorer icons..

Some icons display the Firefox icon & the firefoxhtml description and
others have the text firefoxhtml descriptions with no icon files.. Some
even have internet explorer as the default icon..

I have tried htmiconfix several times and restarted my browser as well
- but still it is not fixed..

I have used fileextinfo and have the below .htm & .html files
available..

Is there a way to fix this permanently??

See if rebuilding the icons using TweakUI helps. TweakUI v2.10 is available
