Problem getting thumbnail view of dvr-ms video files

Guest

Ramesh,

You seem like an expert and I can't find an answer to my problem anywhere.
I have read what you said to fix the other gentlemens thumbnail images of
mpegs and it worked. Here is my report of dvr-ms files that have no
thumbnail view. Can you offer a suggestion please?

Thanks,

Rick

Rick,

I'm not sure if the built-in thumbnail extractor supports .DVR-MS types, but
you may give this .REG a try

- - -
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.DVR-MS\ShellEx\{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]
@="{c5a40261-cd64-4ccf-84cb-c394da41d590}"

- - -

Copy the above contents to Notepad and save as dvrms.reg. Double-click the
file to merge the contents with the registry.

Ramesh,

Thank you very much for the help but I tried saving the file as dvrms.reg
and it didn't work. I know that these file types do in fact generate a first
frame video image because when I access them through my laptop on my network,
it shows an image. I just can't get it to work on my desktop PC. Maybe you
wrote it down wrong or maybe I'm doing something wrong but I can't save this
file and get it to work. Could you take another look. thanks!

Perhaps you can compare the REG settings with that of your laptop? That'll
give you the thumbnail extractor GUID string / DLL name.
