SubSite Creation

G

Guest

I would like to create a subsite on my local, IIS hosted, web site and then
when it works move it to the main server.
With FP I created a folder right off the root:

C:\InetPub\wwwroot\Test

and put a blank page in it.

I then right clicked on the Test folder and select Convert to Web get a
warning and then when I say YES I get an error:

Server error: Unable to create a disk-based Web at C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\test"
because its parent Web would not ba a dis-based Web. Create the dis-bsed Web
ouside of your Web servers document hierachy"

What to do now?

Thanks...... Zeke

OK,
not so tough.
here's how to do it.
in FrontPage click file/ open site, type in http://localhost as a web and
open it.
once it opens find your folder that was giving you trouble and right click
it and select "convert to subweb (or sub site)".

in FrontPage hit file/ close web to close everything out and then file/ open
web, type in http://localhost/test
your subweb will open for you.

that's it.

**note**
in some instances I'm saying subweb or subsite but they're interchangeable
in practice, it's just that FrontPage 2002 called them webs and FrontPage
2003 calls them sites.
