I believe what I would like to do requires a subform. When I tried to do a
subform, however, it is not working as I would like it to. Here is the
situation:

I have one table with company information and one table with contact people
linked to the company with the company id number.

I want a form where I can see the company information as well as the
contacts within the company. I tried to do a subform, but the subform is
showing up in the company form in datasheet view. I want it to be in form
view (contact form view within company form view). Is this possible?

I made a form for the contacts, but when I open the contacts form, I see
datasheet view until I change the view.

Try setting the Default View property of your subform to either Single Form,
or more likely for your situation, Continuous Forms.

Sure. Open the subform in design view; view its Properties; and set the
Default View property to Single Form.
