sub-folders in 'my documents' are gone

Help!!!

The sub-folders in each folder are gone while individual files still kept.

And this only happend on 'My documents', the other disks and directories are
OK.

help! thanks!
 
You just turned your computer on and noticed that a bunch of your files in
My Documents were missing?
 
Yes, exactly, and happened when I installed and modified two terms in
Register file.

All other directories in C are OK, only sub-folders in 'my documents' were
missing, instead of folders themselves. Because I have a lot of pictures
stored in 'My Pictures' and now I can't get them.

The Register file I modified:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\POLICIES\MICROSOFT\OUTLOOK EXPRESS
I just added a DWord 'Hide Messenger' and set the value to '2'
I followed that from a website instruction to block messenger ( also got
information from this Microsoft newsgroup)
