Styles not copied accurately from nomal.dot

I have created in the normal.dot about 10 styles that I need to use for all
my documents. However I sometimes get documents from others users that do
not have these styles but would be useful to use the styles created in the
normal.dot
I copy these styles using the style copier in Organizer and although they
appear in the document they are not accurate. There is always some problem
with indentation or formatting.
I have recreated the styles and stored them outside the normal.dot in a
style sheet but the smae problem exists.
Has anybody encountered something similar and could they please help.

If your styles are based on Normal (which they will be by default) and
Normal has been redefined in the document you receive, then this problem is
inevitable. You can either change the styles so that they are not based on
Normal, or you can handle the received documents by creating a new document
based on your Normal or document template and inserting the received file.

Try doing the Organizer copy three times - because of the way Word styles
cascade (one based on another) and also the linking of styles and list
templates, a single copy often won't do the full job.

There is another reason why indents and tabs may be inaccurate, and that is
if you have tried to change them from the Paragraph dialog for a style that
has list formatting. You must set the tab and indent by modifying the
Numbering for the style in that case - the Paragraph indents will be
overwritten by the Numbering ones on various events, including the Organizer
copy.
