Word 2003 - Outline Numbering 'house style'

In my Normal.dot I have set up an outline numbering style using Shauna
Kelly's instructions, which is great, but I now need the style to be
available in existing documents at the click of a button, and for the new
style to override any other style in the document.

I've been experimenting: I opened an existing document then recorded a
macro that opened 'Organizer' and copied the style from Normal.dot into the
existing document. It worked OK(ish) for that document (apart from the
'indents/tabs' being different ... 0.63cm instead of the 2.5cm that I had set
in the original style). When I open another existing doc and run the macro,
of course it doesn't work.

I think I need some sort of fancy VB code, which unfortunately is beyond my
capabililty. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The easiest approach is to create a new blank document and then insert the
contents of the existing file (via Insert | File); that way, you get the
desired numbering formatting.

I added my styles to my toolbar so I do have click of a button ease. After I
created the style, I then added a new menu to an existing toolbar, then added
the styles to that menu, so my styles are located in a "drop down" style
option. Very easy to do and very easy to use. Hope that helps!

Thanks very much, Stefan, it works brilliantly ... can't believe I was making
such a mountain out of a molehill!!

PJY: Thanks very much for your reply also. I already had the styles in a
"drop down" on the toolbar and it worked for 'new' documents but not
'existing' documents.

Again, thank you both for replying. Your help is much appreciated.
