Styles: display correctly in list, BUT

Styles: display correctly in list, BUT unfortunately do
not work when applied to text.

I have a heading style that is Normal + Font:Bold.
The Normal font is 11 pt. Arial, and while the selected
text will change from Dutch 801 to Arial, it will not be
Bold, as specified in the style.

I can apply Bold manually, but that defeats the purpose of
using styles.

Any ideas? Using styles is not new to me, but the two
problems I've posted about this morning are. Has anyone
else had this problem - and how do you fix it??

Eagerly awaiting response via this newsgroup forum or via
direct email; my address is anne.young at hillwood dot com

Thanks so much for the suggestion... that's a trick I did
not know.

These docs are RIFE with manual formatting.

If I had a dollar for every tab character...!

Thank you again. I'll post again with results of your
suggestion.

But it's generally best to print it out first so that you have some record
of the formatting that was intended. Sometimes this is critical to
understanding the organization of the document.

When you apply a style with a bold font, is the text
already bolded? If so, by applying the style you may not
get the bold formatting (Ctrl + Spacebar eliminates
character formatting).
