Style fails to change

Sometimes I want to change the style of a paragraph, eg I may want to change
it from "Heading 3" to "Normal" and after going through the procedure of
selecting Normal from the drop down list, the format remains in "Heading 3"
style.

I have previously posted this question and the answer from Jezebel follows.
But I still have this problem even when I simply click inside the paragaph
whose style I want to change or when I ensure I have included the para mark
within the selected text. Very frustrating! Are there other possible
explanations? TIA .... Greg

Hi Greg,

Not sure whether it's your problem, but I sometimes get documents where
"Normal" is a character style.
And the "real" Normal style is called by its German name, "Standard".

Another possibility is that "Heading 3" is applied as a character style (...
one of those pesky "Char" styles).

In both cases, you might try to remove any character style from the
paragraph (select it, Ctrl+Spacebar), and then make sure the Normal style
you apply is really a paragraph style.

Regards,
Klaus
