When i play videos that i have on my computer, the picture stutters in both
windows media player, real one player, divx player, and other programs that
play videos. these are videos that have been downloaded onto my computer, not
on a DVD. any suggestions as to why the playback stutters.

Maybe the video was shaking on the kids knee while his foot was spasming.

its videos ripped from DVD and compacted into .avi or .mpg not bootlegs you
clown

I use Pinnacle Movie editing products, and hadn't used it
since June, (Sept 04 installed SP2) but when I attempted
to edit a Christmas video the transfer was a disaster,
and then I began to notice a coincidence with the
playback mode on the players you mention. After visiting
many discussions groups and being in touch with Microsoft
the conclusion was as follows:
1) SP2 is the culprit, it changed the speed in the video
card IEEE 1394
2) I wanted to experiment so I reformatted my machine and
installed only SP1.

Result all playback and transfers are perfect again.
According to my emails to Microsoft there is no real fix
from them at the moment.

Hope this helps.
