Vijdeo stuttering

G

George Mooth

I have a ASUS A8N Deluxe sli, AMD Athlon 3500+, Nvidia 7600GS video
card, 1 Meg. ram. When I play DVDs with PowerDVD or WMP or any
other program the video hesitates every 10-15 seconds. Sometimes it
gets so bad the video locks up and I have to X out of the program.
Sometimes I can get through a whole DVD without too much stuttering.

Anyone have a clue what I can do to get smooth video?

Thanks,

C

Hi George,

Are you using dial-up or broadband to access the internet? If dial-up, that
may be the problem, and little can be done except switch to some kind of
broadband access.

If you are using broadband, then malware may be slowing your system down.
Check here for some steps to check for nasties on your computer:

BTW, I hope you meant you were using 1*GB* of RAM, not 1MB. If not, that
would slow you up too. :)

Yep using Broadband, but haven't had any problems with video
viewed on the 'net.

LOL, yeah that sure would slow me up. Yes I meant 1 GB. I keep a very
clean system so ad aware and spybot S&D found few problems. Just a
few cookies. Yummmmy

I installed the K-lites's mega codec pack and now things are working
fine except PowerDVD. WMP and Real both play fine. Odd, PowerDVD
used to work great. Maybe one of the microsoft updates broke
something. Thank you for your links and suggestions, Curt.
