Stutterering TV display with new PCI TV Wonder PRO

I have experience with ATI TV cards. I have AIW 7500 that runs fine on
this PC. I have also used TV Wonder PCI cards. However, I just built a
Media Box to replace one that was running fine on a Cel 1.1, Matorx
G450, TV Wonder PRO in a old slot one Asus.

New Setup
P4 3GHz 800Mhz
Intel D845PERL board
1 GB of Crucial 3200
WD PATA 200 GB J series 8 meg cache 7200 RPM drive
Matrox G450 Dual head AGP
Win 2K Fully Patched
The sound, and LAN are on board.

For TV and capture I am using a new TV Wonder PRO PCI.
I was using the Matrox this new TV Wonder Pro in a Cel 1.1 Box with no
problems when I decided to upgrade so the video card and TV capture
card will work together.

After installing and patching everything else I backed up and
installed the TV Wonder Pro.
First The WM9 Encoder files
Next the 8.1 DAO mdac files
next the TV Wonder Pro wdm drivers
Finally the new 8.8 Media Manager

Everything installed OK. Then I rebooted.
Started the TV, went through the setup screens, and scanned for
channels.

Here is the problem. The TV video display stutterers continuously, up
and down. However if I record the TV Broadcast at DVD quality, and
play it back in PowerDVD it plays back fine. So it is a Display output
issue, and maybe this has something to do with the P4 Hyperthreading
.... but what. Searching in ATI hasn't come up with any explanation.

Of course it fails a bunch of the ATI hardware tests, but then every
ATI AIW or PCI Wonder I have installed fails some of these tests,
particularly the timing test. I have never passed that. And this one
says I am not running the correct Direct X version, .. but I am.
It says I do not have the correct Radon drivers ..but I am not using
a Radon video card, I am using a Matorx G450 that I know works well
with this ATI TV Wonder Pro.

Anybody have a solution... or ideas?

thanks

You bought an 845 based motherboard? You should have
went with an 875 board.

Anyhow, yes there is a problem with hyperthreading and tv tuner cards.
There
is a fix from microsoft for WinXP, but I don't know about Win2000. If you
continue
to have problems with MMC 8.8, try the 8.2 version that came with the card.
Version
8.8 has many compatability problems and doesn't work well for many people.
