What is XP trying to do to me? My XP Pro SP1 computer tries to run the MS
Office 2003 installer whenver I open a PDF file online. It tries multiple
times and is a royal pain in the ass.

.... I don't have the CD, this was a preload by the IT dept.
.... I'm not using Office, so DON'T BUG ME MICROSOFT.

....Please, how do I stop this junk?

Noozer,

You may require the Office CD for repairing the installation (Detect and Repair feature). Request your IT department to fix this problem.

They may:

1. "Detect and Repair" office installation
2. Remove the Windows Installer information for Office, and reinstall it if required
3. Remove Office completely.

STILL haven't been able to fix this crap...

Control Panel- Add/remove Programs - uninstall any occurences of OFFICE
seeing how you aren't using it anyway.

your browser isn't set up correctly to handle the PDF item. check browser
"helper application" section, or easier still, reinstall the adobe pdf
plugin (or the entire abode pdf reader; it was recently updated to version
7.0 if you need an incentive).
