Help. "Automatic Updates" from MS won't install

Running XP Pro, SR3, Office 2003, Windows Defender is ON, use Ad-Aware,
AVAST, Spyware Blaster (have HijackThis but don't run b/c fearful of acting
on results). Weekly maint. performed, never more than 5 items to remove and
they're not significant. Running at about 38% usage; defrag not needed but
ran it anyway, et al. I had clicked to not installed IE7 again, which MS
keeps trying to do "automatically."

What gives? It'll pop up all the time now, and give the same message that
the following could not be installed. I went to www.microsoft.com and ran
the updates scan, and had to uncheck a few I had previously declined (i.e.
Outlook, since I don't use it). These are the updates that won't install:

Update for Outlook 2003 (KB943649)
Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB957832)
Security Update for Access Snapshot Viewer 2003 (KB955439)
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2003 (KB921598)
Security Update for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 (KB948988)
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2003 (KB951535)
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2003 (KB953404)
Security Update for Microsoft Office Word 2003 (KB954464)
Security Update for Office 2003 (KB954478)
Security Update for Microsoft Office Excel 2003 (KB955466)
Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 (KB953432)

Thank you for any suggestions.

Oh, my, what is that?

I did go to Kelly's Corner and tried some of the suggestions, and some
downloads were installed, but I had to turn off Updates to stop the shield
from popping up every few minutes.

"Office Source Engine service" is not listed in the MS url nor Help and
Support.

I'm sorry, I should have been more specific.

Please go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools.

Select the Services applet.

On the right hand side, scroll down until you see the Office Source Engine
service.

Right-click the service and select Start (if the Office Source Engine
service is highlighted, this can also be done by clicking the blue Start up
in the left hand corner).

Once the service has started, run MS Update. I beleive your updates should
install successfully now.

I hope this helps,

-Chris
