stuck on welcome screen

I have recently reinstalled XP Home. Everything is working fine except when
XP lstarts up it gets to the welcome screen and stays there. The only way I
can get it to proceed is by pressing ctrl + alt + del. Can anyone please help.

start>run and type

control userpasswords2

Advance>uncheck "Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete"
