I have vista... was having a small problem when windows was loading up so I
did a search on help. Decided to start in safe mode to sus out problem
further. Now I can't get out.
I've restarted, sys restored, used options in f8 menu to repair and start
windows in normal mode, used options in f2 or f12 ?? menu to repair etc.

i don't know what to do. Pls help

I would try an earlier restore point as your system has some problem,
probably a recent driver, that makes normal startup inadvisable.

Search on msconfig

Make sure that "normal startup" is selected.

Reboot.

I do crazy things on my laptop running vista and never have a problem. If
you have the CD to restore vista and have backed up any important files then
do this. Your OS is probably hosed anyways. Why waist time.
Blow the partition and create a new partition, create a second partition of
5 or 10 GB only. Copy the setup files for vista to the small partition.
After the files have been copied, install vista from that location. Just
make sure Vista is installing to root drive C.
To further help in the future, forget backing up to CDs and DVDs. Get an
external hard drive, (USB) 200GB.
After you have your computer setup the way you want it, backup everything to
the external hard drive.
Even if your hard drive crashes all your data is right there on the external
drive. You can copy files to new or existing hard drive or prepare a load to
ghost. If you are using a Compaq computer, I suggest you get a better life.
Compaq computers suck but they do make good servers.

If computer boots in safe mode but not normally, ad driver is at fault.

Your best option may be a repaire:
1, Boot from Vista DVD
2. Consider the repair options.

Here is a little more involved solution but once performed, all worries will
vanish.
