Strange yet could be simple fix

Strange but yet probably a simple fix.
Scenario: 2 laptops, XP SP2 is the OS, WiFi is the network connectivity,
DHCP enabled.
on separate sub-net than the servers, DNS, WINS, Domain controller.
Each Laptop can ping the servers on the other sub-net, they can ping other
p.c.s on there own sub-net, but the can not ping each other nor see each
other in the brows list.

Check the firewall settings on the laptops. They may have ICMP echo and
file and printer sharing blocked.

I turned off the Firewall thinking tha same thing unless there is another
setting out side of the "Securtiy center"
