strange version problem

When I try to start WMP,I get an error that says wmplayer.exe has a version #
of 10.0.0.3803 where 10.0.0.3646 was expected.WMP is not properly installed
and must be reinstalled.When I try to download and run from MSFT help page it
tells me that I have a more recent version and setup cannot continue!
Please HELP.I cant uninstall WMP to reinstall.I dont know what else to try!

Start, Settings, Control Panel, "Add or Remove Programs", and uninstall version 10, then reboot
and install new. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/download/download.aspx
