Strange sound behavior ("inserting device sound" plays continuously)

When I connect my Palm or PocketPC for synchronization to my PC, Windows
usually plays the "inserting device" sound once. Since yesterday, this sound
is played continuously until the device is disconnected.

Can you help me figure out how to solve this so annoying problem? Thank you
very much.

There are many newgrops for Palm users.
