Strange Search Behavior

When I use SEARCH in XP with a 'word or phrase in file'
filter, I sometimes get a list of files that contain the
word or phrase but fail to get other files in the same
folder that contain the word or phrase. I expect that
there may be some configuration option that I have
altered in some way but I am at a loss as to how I should
proceed. Any advice?

Consider and install of the free Agent Ransack utility, for improved
search capabilities...
