strange program

I have several folders in WINNT that appeared suddenly. One is listed as
$NtUniunstallkB 821253$. Anyone have any idea what this is? There are seven
folders whicyh are similar.
 
These are the backups of system files that were replaced when you installed one or more Windows XP Hotfixes from Windows Update, or via direct download. They can be removed, and the associated entries in Add/Remove Programs, as long as you don't need to uninstall any of the hotfixes.
