hi all,
25 PCs here all XP sp2 are working fine. 3 PCs starting 2-3 weeks ago
starting to have problem. They are unable to connect to the network drives,
cannot map network drives, cannot browse network neighborhood, change PC
ID/domain are greyed out (saying network is not installed or not configured
properly) and Generic Host process for win32 errors pop up when starting xp.
I am also having problem doing windows update. it will stop at the installing
screen for the first install, stays there.....

Restart a few times, might come up better. Then after a while it drops
again. During all the above problem, Internet access has no problem.
Ipconfig /all still show proper Information.

I ran spybot, ad ware, spysweeper, spy doctor and Mcafee antivirus, all came
out clean. Sometime i can boot up with option to change domain and PC name,
i tried to disjoin and join back the domain already, same problem. Of course
i login as myself, Domain admin.

Any idea?

I had the same problem which drove me out of my mind for 2 months until
today!!! Everyone's suggestions tend to attack the registry and the drivers
and the network set up. I finally realized that there was a computer
accidentally plugged into the hub in a "trunk" port. As soon as I unplugged
it, all was fine throughout the system. Check that before you continue
killing your machines.

Thanks for your reply.
How do i find that trunk port? i assume no one program the switch and assign
trunk port without me. Is that what you talking about? Otherwise, please
give me more detail.
Thanks again.

It depending on what type of hub/switch you have. On my KTI switches, the
trunk ports are denoted by an X after the port number. You may want to find
out more about these ports by looking up your hub/switch manufacturer
specifications.

Good luck!!
